Late, late 1966, in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, the Fewdle Lords are formed. Consisting of:
George Christie - lead Guitar
Denny Geiger - Drums
George Danusis - keyboards
Rich Jackson - Bass
The Fewdle Lords seemed to have a bright future, till tragedy cut short George Christie's life in an auto accident in 1970.
1968 was the year the boys left us this 45.
Farewell to Today and Tomorrow
I Know
Much confusion reigned for years as to the origin of the Fewdle Lords. Many signs pointed to Florida (the Tiara imprint was there at some point). But now the band is confirmed for Indiana status!
Anyone want to toss any stories of the band out there. Has to be much that I don't know.
****Chris at Garage Hangover did a quick piece on the Fewdle Lords. Lots of great info and insight there. I'm pretty sure he has a more detailed story coming. Highly recommended!
Still have my 45. However the label is reddish. Did they make different colors?
ReplyDeleteAs far as I know, the red is a second pressing. Sold, gave away all of the first (probably 500 or so) and had a second run of the 45.
ReplyDeleteReally glad to finally obtain some info on the Fewdle Lords. My girlfriends grandmother was Ruth Sadler and has set out to put the Tiara catalog together. Please let me know if there's one available it would be really appreciated. thanks..
ReplyDeleteCan I say thank you? My 10 year old son wanted to know if any of his relatives are famous. I was able to find my dad's band (and even hear him!) thanks to you!
ReplyDeleteChristie Danusis (yes, named for George Christie)

Are you George’s child I think we are related …..Julia Australia
DeleteI went to Central Catholic High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I have an original blue label record of the Fewdle Lords. I understand my classmate Andy Barile was one of the band members.
ReplyDeleteI remember this band,I lived near one of the band members. My brother and I met them walking down the street once, and I recall them giving us their autographs!I was around 8 or 9 years old,IIRC.I think one of the members was Greek, the Danusis name sounds familiar. One of their songs that I liked had a kind of gothic, organ sound to it.Can't remember the name of it,but I think it was pretty popular,as I heard it frequently on the radio.
ReplyDeleteBrings back memories..
One of the founding members was John Gall who was the lead singer and bass guitar player. Tiara records is owned by my father as well as Mana Publishing. John and I grew up together and he was the best man in my wedding. I have lost touch with him but believe he lives in Maine and practices law. I have several copies of their records as well as all of Tiara Records. I moved from Ft Wayne to Maine in 1968. Ruth Sadler mentioned in another post was/is a friend of my father, stage name Don Barrie. He recently retired from show business after many years of dinner clubs singing Perry Como tunes. Brought back some memories seeing the Tiara label
ReplyDeleteHello Fire Chief - are you Jay? Your mom and my mom Donna we’re very good friends and I remember your dad well. We still (I think) have a few of your dad’s records around. I was really surprised to find mention of Don Barrie/Tiara Records online. Hope you and your sisters are doing well! John P.

DeleteThanks for writing Fire Chief. If you'd like to share, I'd be happy to have a list of who recorded on Tiara. I have only one other 45 - Big Kahuana I believe.
ReplyDeleteThanks again,
Tim
I worked for the band for a short time(low or unpaid roadie, lol). I don't know how it came into my possession but I believe I still have an original pressing of the album they were working on at the time of George Christie's death.

I just found out that my wife's uncle was a member of the Fewdle Lords between 1968 and 1970. Found this out when I found the news paper articles.
ReplyDeleteMy brother played organ for the Fewdle Lords. I occasionally helped them as the light man and help them bring equipment for most of their gigs I can remember the band at times would practice in the basement of dad and mom's home. I knew the Christie's very well. It was a sad day when I heard of George Christie's death.
ReplyDeleteWas your brother George Damusis
DeleteI think I’m related to George Danusis I wonder where I can contact him …Julia Australia
ReplyDeleteI think we are related
ReplyDeleteI lived two doors down from the Christie
ReplyDeleteFamily. I was there all the time hanging with Dana. Listened to the band as they practiced and have great memories of these guys.
