Olivers - Ft. Wayne Indiana 1967
Oops, I said I would post the killer "B" side to the Olivers 45. I'm sorry for the horrible oversight, here is the mayhem known as Beaker Street. The later RCA single changed the publisher, and writer credits, and called it Beeker Street. Same song though, I'm sure. Added bonus, a band member of an upcoming post (and great story of two bands) tells me that he has a better photo of the band!!! This is the spirit of cooperation that will help us all learn more about these great bands!

This was a great band in 1969! The guitar player Jason Pendorff became my brother-in-law the next year! Did you know he played a killer guitar on Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels song, "Devil with the Blue Dress"? and they Opened for the Rolling Stones the first year they came to the US!
Thanks for the comment Cindy! Yes, you are right, Jay was a first class guitar player and certainly carried the "Beaker Street" side that was co-written by him (as J. Richie). I believe it was written in '64. Too bad the photos I have so far are of the Olivers after he left for the military, but we'll correct that won't we!!!
Sorry to burst your bubble Cindy, but the guitar player on "Devil With a Blue Dress" was Jimmie McCarty.
MBM...you may be right on the release to the public but he did record a version of the song with Mitch Ryder and the DW..I saw and heard the 45 myself....in fact the version I heard, you can heard Mitch saying right before Jason's lead solo..."go Jay go!" you can say what you want but I believe Jason...not bursting my bubble at all! Cindy'the rippers"b
I just came back to this today and may have been wrong on my comment. Sorry to say anything I should not have. Pleease forgive me Cindy and Jay.
If anyone has pictures, of good quality, of the Olivers, in the late 60s. around 1969 to be exact, the pictures could be considered to be included on the album cover of the Olivers - Lost Dove Sessions, recently found album that is in the works in Germany. Only actual pictures of the band will be considered. The lineup at that time was Billy Franze, Jay Penndorf, Rick Durrett, Chuck Hamrick and Mike Mankey.
