Sceptors - Jeffersonville, Indiana 1967

Here's the pic I promised of the Sceptors of Jeffersonville, Indiana. This is from Sept. '67.I've found a couple others too, but none list the band member names. A friend of mine was the editor of the Columbus Republic (the local paper) at this time (mid '60s). He complains (still) that the promoters didn't always name the performers. That would have made my research much easier!!

I was a member of the Sceptors. My name is Garry Bowyer. The band members names are as follows:

Sonny Lemaire, Bass Guitar and vocals. He later became a member of Exile and lives in Nashville TN and writes music.

Warren Glotzbach, Lead Guitar and vocals. Warren is an engineer for Motorola in Dell Ray Beach, FL. He continues to play music with a local group in FL.

Clyde Miller, vocals. Clyde is a retired elementary school teacher living in Georgetown, IN.

Joe Brown, drums and vocals. Joe lives in New Albany, IN. and writes lyrics for ad agencies.

Garry Bowyer, guitar and vocals. I am a college instructor in Louisville, KY and live in the Columbus, IN area. I have been DJ'ing now for 30 years.

John Payne, organ. He continued to play music throughout his career with his own duo.

I hope this helps with your research. If you would like to get in touch with me, my work e-mail is: garry.bowyer@*****.edu

I remember the Sceptors well...did a tremendous cover of "Mercy, Mercy, Mercy". Great band.

Garry Bowyer was my second cousin. I saw his band play (not sure if it was the Sceptors) when I was about 5 or 6 years old. They were set up in a garage. Life would never be the same for me. I started playing piano in 3rd grade, trumpet in 5th grade, guitar at age 15. My Dad influenced me a lot with music (he is 87 and still plays!) but Garry, God rest his soul, influenced me more than I ever realized. I went on to record two CDs and have been writing a lot lately and playing open mic nights around the Lafayette, Indiana area. Cheers!

Garry Bowyer was my second cousin. I saw his band play (not sure if it was the Sceptors) around 1965 or so. I was 6 or 7 years old and it changed my life. They were set up in a garage. I went on to play piano, trumpet and then guitar at age 15. I have recorded two CDs and have been in several bands. Lately, I have been playing some open mic nights in the Lafayette, Indiana area. Thank you to my Dad who influenced me greatly (he is 87 and still plays!) but also to Garry. May God rest your soul.
